Las autoridades de Filipinas<\/a> anunciaron que reanudar\u00e1n pr\u00f3ximamente las conversaciones bilaterales con China <\/a>para tratar el futuro de las zonas en disputa en el mar de China Meridional.<\/b><\/p>\n

El Ministerio de Exteriores filipino comunic\u00f3 que el di\u00e1logo tendr\u00e1 lugar en la ciudad de Quanzhou,<\/b> ubicada en la provincia de Fujian, en la costa este de China. Ambos pa\u00edses buscan intercambiar posiciones luego de una escalada de incidentes recientes en la regi\u00f3n, que ha sido fuente constante de tensiones entre Manila y Pek\u00edn<\/b>.<\/p>\n

En este marco, el r\u00e9gimen chino manifest\u00f3 que mantiene abierta la posibilidad de realizar exploraciones conjuntas de hidrocarburos<\/b> con Filipinas.<\/p>\n

El reinicio de negociaciones se produce tras una serie de incidentes en aguas disputadas. Este viernes, la Armada de Filipinas<\/b> report\u00f3 que uno de sus buques militares evit\u00f3 una colisi\u00f3n con una nave de la Armada china cerca de la isla de Pagasa<\/b> (denominada Thitu en chino), territorio bajo administraci\u00f3n filipina pero reclamado por China.<\/p>\n

El Mando Occidental (WESCOM) de las Fuerzas Armadas filipinas detall\u00f3 que el suceso obedeci\u00f3 a maniobras consideradas temerarias por parte del buque chino.<\/p>\n

El portavoz del WESCOM, coronel Nep Padua, afirm\u00f3 que el \u201cBRP Benguet\u201d<\/b> logr\u00f3 evadir el choque con una fragata lanzamisiles 532 de la Armada de China durante una operaci\u00f3n mar\u00edtima cerca de la isla Pagasa.<\/p>\n

Este nuevo episodio se suma a otro incidente ocurrido tres semanas atr\u00e1s, cuando una embarcaci\u00f3n china apunt\u00f3 a una fragata filipina que patrullaba cerca del arrecife de Escoda (llamado Xianbin Jiao por China).<\/p>\n

El mar de China Meridional es escenario de reivindicaciones superpuestas entre China y varios pa\u00edses del sudeste asi\u00e1tico, incluidos Filipinas, Vietnam, Brun\u00e9i, Malasia y Taiw\u00e1n. <\/b><\/p>\n

Estas aguas concentran rutas mar\u00edtimas clave para el comercio internacional <\/b>y se estima que sus fondos marinos albergan reservas importantes de petr\u00f3leo y gas<\/b>.<\/p>\n

China sostiene que casi toda la extensi\u00f3n mar\u00edtima bajo la llamada \u201cl\u00ednea de nueve puntos\u201d<\/b> le pertenece, una delimitaci\u00f3n que aparece en los mapas oficiales chinos y que ha sido reiteradamente cuestionada por otros pa\u00edses ante organismos internacionales.<\/p>\n

El portavoz del Ministerio de Defensa de China declar\u00f3 a la agencia Xinhua<\/i> que el pa\u00eds \u201char\u00e1 lo necesario para salvaguardar sus derechos\u201d y reiter\u00f3 que la soberan\u00eda sobre la zona \u201cno se puede disputar\u201d.<\/p>\n

La crisis energ\u00e9tica global y las interrupciones en el suministro de petr\u00f3leo han impulsado a Filipinas y China a explorar f\u00f3rmulas de cooperaci\u00f3n, aun en un entorno de desconfianza mutua.<\/p>\n
