Luego, se produjeron dos eventos volc\u00e1nicos discretos m\u00e1s en Fagradalsfjall en 2022 y 2023. Posteriormente, se produjeron cuatro erupciones m\u00e1s hacia el oeste en el sistema de fisuras Sundhn\u00fakur en 2023 y 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"Links inline\">Si bien estas erupciones brindan un<b>\u00a0espect\u00e1culo incre\u00edble<\/b>, tambi\u00e9n tienen el\u00a0<b>poder de causar estragos<\/b>. Las recientes erupciones de Sundhn\u00fakur<b>\u00a0amenazan el pueblo pesquero de Grindav\u00edk<\/b>, la\u00a0<b>planta de energ\u00eda geot\u00e9rmica de Svartsengi\u00a0<\/b>y el principal destino tur\u00edstico de Islandia: el spa geot\u00e9rmico de la\u00a0<b>Laguna Azul<\/b>. Esta cadena volc\u00e1nica se conoce como\u00a0<b>Cordillera del Atl\u00e1ntico Medio\u00a0<\/b>y desempe\u00f1a un papel esencial en la tect\u00f3nica de placas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"Links inline\">La tect\u00f3nica de placas describe c\u00f3mo las enormes y r\u00edgidas placas que forman la corteza terrestre se deslizan unas hacia otras, una dentro de otra y una debajo de otra. Su comportamiento remodela lentamente la superficie de la Tierra. En algunos lugares, las placas chocan para formar cadenas monta\u00f1osas como el Himalaya. En otros lugares, una placa se desliza debajo de otra, creando<b>\u00a0volcanes y\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1029\/2011GL049210\" rel=\"noopener\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1029\/2011GL049210\"><b>terremotos<\/b><\/a><b>, como en Jap\u00f3n.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"Links inline\">En la\u00a0<b>Cordillera del Atl\u00e1ntico Medio<\/b>, que se extiende entre el\u00a0<b>Atl\u00e1ntico Sur y el Oc\u00e9ano \u00c1rtico,\u00a0<\/b>las placas se separan, permitiendo que el magma fundido fluya a trav\u00e9s de ellas.
