{"id":85943,"date":"2024-07-01T11:04:26","date_gmt":"2024-07-01T16:04:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecitizenfortheworld.com\/?p=85943"},"modified":"2024-07-01T11:04:26","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T16:04:26","slug":"como-son-los-telescopios-mas-potentes-del-mundo-y-que-pueden-revelarnos-del-universo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecitizenfortheworld.com\/?p=85943","title":{"rendered":"\u00bfC\u00f3mo son los telescopios m\u00e1s potentes del mundo y qu\u00e9 pueden revelarnos del universo?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/ace\/ws\/640\/cpsprodpb\/7e17\/live\/c062c0c0-349a-11ef-812a-f969b7a80bd3.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Las antenas del observatorio ALMA, en Atacama\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\"><b>En 1623, el f\u00edsico italiano Galileo Galilei tuvo una idea que habr\u00eda de cambiar la historia de la ciencia: se dedic\u00f3 a observar durante todo un verano el Sol con un telescopio.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">Esta genial ocurrencia le permiti\u00f3 deducir que el astro rey no era una esfera perfecta, sino que presentaba manchas que se mov\u00edan con el tiempo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">Galileo descubri\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n los cr\u00e1teres en la superficie de la Luna, dio nombre a los cuatro sat\u00e9lites principales de J\u00fapiter (Europa, Io, Gan\u00edmedes y Calixto) e intuy\u00f3 que Saturno ten\u00eda anillos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">La utilizaci\u00f3n del telescopio (un instrumento que ya se conoc\u00eda previamente, pero que nunca se hab\u00eda usado para observar el cielo) abri\u00f3 nuevas e ilusionantes perspectivas.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"bbc-1qn0xuy\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/ace\/ws\/640\/cpsprodpb\/4bac\/live\/863c6090-3495-11ef-bdc5-41d7421c2adf.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Galileo demostrando su telescopio\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Desde las observaciones de Galileo, los telescopios nos han dado la posibilidad de ver una parte de la realidad que no podr\u00edamos experimentar de otra forma.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">Desde entonces, los astr\u00f3nomos y astr\u00f3nomas se han empe\u00f1ado en dise\u00f1ar instrumentos que nos permitan ir cada vez m\u00e1s all\u00e1 en nuestra concepci\u00f3n del cosmos.\u00a0<b>Un telescopio m\u00e1s grande es capaz de captar m\u00e1s cantidad de luz, y por lo tanto, de llegar m\u00e1s lejos.<\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">Adem\u00e1s, desde hace tiempo hemos desarrollado herramientas de observaci\u00f3n capaces de ver en otras longitudes del espectro electromagn\u00e9tico; o sea, la luz que nuestros ojos no pueden captar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">Hoy en d\u00eda contamos con grandes aliados para observar el universo en toda su magnitud. Eso lo convierte en el telescopio \u00f3ptico m\u00e1s grande del planeta\u2026 por ahora.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">La construcci\u00f3n del futuro ELT (siglas de Extremely Large Telescope, Telescopio Extremadamente Grande) en Chile, que contar\u00e1 con un espejo primario de 39 metros, amenaza su supremac\u00eda. Se prev\u00e9 que este reciba su primera luz en 2028.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">La instrumentaci\u00f3n del GRANTECAN le permite operar en los rangos \u00f3ptico e infrarrojo, un tipo de radiaci\u00f3n que nuestros ojos no pueden ver y que nos permite estudiar, entre otras cosas, el polvo interestelar.\u00a0<b>Gracias a sus prestaciones hemos observado gran n\u00famero de astros: planetas extrasolares, estrellas evolucionadas, galaxias con poco brillo, etc.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">Entre sus descubrimientos destacan la detecci\u00f3n de una galaxia (UG00180) situada a 500 millones de a\u00f1os luz o el descubrimiento de la estrella m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a jam\u00e1s observada, TMTS J0526B. Hoy por hoy, es el mayor interfer\u00f3metro del planeta.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\"><b>Un interfer\u00f3metro consiste en un conjunto de radiotelescopios que observan el universo en el rango de las radiofrecuencias, las ondas electromagn\u00e9ticas con menos energ\u00eda del espectro<\/b>. Esto se hace as\u00ed porque las im\u00e1genes que nos proporciona una \u00fanica antena tienen poca resoluci\u00f3n: se ven muy pixeladas. Si utilizamos muchas observando el mismo objeto al mismo tiempo, conseguiremos much\u00edsima m\u00e1s calidad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bbc-19j92fr ebmt73l0\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p class=\"bbc-hhl7in e17g058b0\" dir=\"ltr\">Situado en el Llano de Chajnantor (Chile), una inmensa llanura \u00e1rida y seca a unos 5.000 metros de altura, ALMA cuenta con 66 antenas de 7 y 12 metros de di\u00e1metro.
