\u201cMuchas cesaron sus actividades ante el temor de ser procesadas, lo que tambi\u00e9n ha impactado negativamente en las beneficiarias de su trabajo\u201d, advirti\u00f3 la ONG Centro de Justicia y Paz (Cepaz)<\/p>\n

En\u00a0<\/b>Venezuela<\/b><\/a>, defensoras de\u00a0<\/b>derechos humanos<\/b><\/a>\u00a0son v\u00edctimas de \u201camenazas, hostigamientos y, en ocasiones, agresiones directas\u201d<\/b>, una situaci\u00f3n que se extiende a \u201csus familiares como estrategia de quiebre y para obstaculizar o detener su trabajo\u201d o \u201cforzar su salida del pa\u00eds\u201d, denunci\u00f3 este mi\u00e9rcoles la ONG Centro de Justicia y Paz (Cepaz).<\/p>\n

Con motivo del D\u00eda Internacional de las Defensoras de Derechos Humanos, la organizaci\u00f3n no gubernamental asegur\u00f3 que, en la naci\u00f3n caribe\u00f1a, \u201cmuchas cesaron sus actividades ante el temor de ser procesadas, lo que tambi\u00e9n ha impactado negativamente en las beneficiarias de su trabajo\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cLas mujeres que defienden derechos enfrentan desaf\u00edos \u00fanicos, cada vez mayores, impulsados por una profunda discriminaci\u00f3n<\/b>\u201d, dijo el centro en la red social X (antes Twitter).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Adem\u00e1s, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que las organizaciones de mujeres \u201cafrontan una\u00a0desigual distribuci\u00f3n de recursos y un escaso apoyo pol\u00edtico\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ante este panorama, Cepaz considera fundamental que se tomen medidas para \u201cproteger a las mujeres defensoras de derechos y garantizar que puedan realizar su labor sin miedo a represalias\u201d, lo que incluye la \u201cimplementaci\u00f3n de leyes y pol\u00edticas que protejan sus derechos, as\u00ed como la creaci\u00f3n de redes de apoyo y protecci\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n

En este sentido, la ONG agreg\u00f3 que la protecci\u00f3n de los derechos y la seguridad de las mujeres defensoras \u201cson esenciales para la construcci\u00f3n de una verdadera paz en Venezuela\u201d.<\/p>\n

El D\u00eda Internacional de las Defensoras de Derechos Humanos est\u00e1 dedicado al reconocimiento de las mujeres que, a t\u00edtulo individual o colectivo, trabajan para hacer realidad los derechos recogidos en la Declaraci\u00f3n Universal de los Derechos Humanos de la ONU y en las diversas normas que la desarrollan. Esta fecha -29 de noviembre- fue declarada en el marco de la primera Consulta Internacional de Defensoras de Derechos Humanos, realizada en Colombo, Sri Lanka, en 2005. En este comit\u00e9 participaron m\u00e1s de 200 activistas provenientes de m\u00e1s de 70 pa\u00edses. A partir del a\u00f1o siguiente, comenz\u00f3 a celebrarse cada a\u00f1o en b\u00fasqueda de lograr m\u00e1s difusi\u00f3n sobre la situaci\u00f3n actual de quienes participan en esta tarea.<\/p>\n

Las defensoras de los derechos humanos comprenden un n\u00famero significativo de activistas de una amplia gama de organizaciones de la sociedad civil y, en su actividad,\u00a0est\u00e1n sometidas a una violencia adicional por motivos de g\u00e9nero y a riesgos mucho m\u00e1s espec\u00edficos cuando realizan su trabajo.\u00a0<\/b>\u201cNo hay mejor protecci\u00f3n para las defensoras de los derechos humanos que la fuerza y el apoyo de sus propios movimientos\u201d, afirm\u00f3 Hina Jilani, Representante Especial del Secretario General de la ONU para la Situaci\u00f3n de las Defensoras de los Derechos Humanos.<\/p>\n
